A journey that began decades ago when I was a teenager facing a future that seemed impossible to overcome. A journey that carried me through prison, loss, personal growth, self-education, and ultimately redemption. And a journey that continues today through the work of True Phoenix Media.
The three projects featured here—Remember the Phoenix, Buried Alive, and Breaking Chains—represent different chapters of that journey.
Remember the Phoenix
Remember the Phoenix is a story about rebuilding after everything has been stripped away. It explores the challenges of reentry, relationships, identity, and the difficult process of creating a new life after incarceration. At its core, it asks a simple question:
Who do you become when you're finally given a second chance?
Buried Alive
Buried Alive takes readers back to the beginning.
This upcoming novel tells the story of Corey, a fifteen-year-old boy sentenced to spend most of his life behind bars. It examines the fear, anger, and confusion that come with entering the prison system as a child and follows his evolution as he learns to survive one of the harshest environments imaginable.
While fictionalized, the story draws from real experiences and emotions that shaped my own journey.
Breaking Chains
Breaking Chains expands the conversation beyond incarceration.
This project focuses on freeing the mind, body, and spirit from the limitations that keep people trapped. Whether those chains are fear, trauma, bad decisions, addiction, self-doubt, or societal labels, the message remains the same:
Freedom begins long before a prison gate opens.
The Vision for True Phoenix Media
True Phoenix Media was founded on the belief that stories have the power to change lives.
Our mission is to publish books, develop films, create content, and build platforms that inspire people to overcome adversity and pursue purpose regardless of their past circumstances.
Too often, society defines people by the worst mistake they've ever made. We believe people are more than their mistakes. We believe growth is possible. We believe redemption is real.
Every book we publish, every film we develop, and every story we tell is rooted in those principles.
A Personal Thank You
Your support helps turn these stories into something bigger than books. It helps create conversations about resilience, accountability, second chances, and hope.
The journey is far from over.
This is only the beginning.
